Policy 635: K-12 Early Out Program

The Early Out Program will be used for collaboration among teachers, administration, and tutors. Collaboration is an active, dynamic process that allows individuals to work in a voluntary, cooperative relationship where there is sharing of knowledge, skills, and resources, planning and decision making, and responsibility and accountability. It is the responsibility of the entire staff and the building administrator to use this time in a productive and professional manner at all times.

The time allotted for the Early Out has wide a range of uses to include teacher assistance teams, peer and co-teaching, curriculum development, development of schedules, inservices, textbook adoption, special services programs, grade-level or group planning, group learning projects, community inservice programs, etc. Time will be scheduled for meetings, followed by time for individual planning.A log will be kept each week listing the activities for each Early Out period. The responsibility of keeping the log rests with the building administrator.

Each November and April the teachers and principal will report to the School Board the Early Out activities they have conducted.

This policy may be revised or eliminated if, for example, the state should increase the number of hours of instruction required in the classroom, for financial hardship reasons, or misuse of the time.
