SUPERINTENDENT and ADMINISTATOR REPORTS

Superintendent Ward discussed her written report.  The old chemicals have all been removed except for one.  The chemical disposal company had to find out how to dispose of one chemical and they will pick it up the next time they are in the area.  Mrs. Ward enjoyed the luncheon with the school Board and teachers.  The high school greenhouse is operational now.  Mr. Pincock may have more to say, but we are now open for learning.  The school had a power outage last Monday.  Mrs. Ward’s general rule is if the power company says the electricity will be out for more than two hours, we will let the students go home after approximately two hours of no electricity.  We hope that students don’t have to leave before 1:30 pm because we don’t have to make up the time after 1:30 pm.  Mrs. Ward is grateful for Simon and Paul for spending the time it took to get all our computer systems up and running.  Troy and Jesus were great to stay and get all the heating units and fire suppression systems back online.  Buck was very helpful in getting bus drivers here to take the students home early.  Everyone worked closely together to help in the bad situation.  Mrs. Ward would like to thank all those that have made this a successful year.  Our buildings are running smoothly and our students seem happy.

Travis Pincock discussed his written report.  All winter sports have started and they are looking forward to another wrestling and basketball season.  Mr. Pincock congratulated the students in the BPA program for their regional competitions, they did well.  He thanked Mrs. Ward for having the old chemicals removed.

Ann Mennear provided a written report.  Ms. Johnson and Ms. Lewis will be taking their STEM classes to the Idaho Museum exhibit Toytopia on December 8th, 2022.  Toytopia visitors learn about the origins of toys, who made them, and why they are fun and dear to us.  They discover why some toys succeeded and some failed – an important aspect of STEM – as well as which toys have become collector’s items and why.  Girls’ basketball is wrapping up.  Mrs. Mennear thanked everyone who worked to make this a positive experience for the girls.  Mrs. Mennear added that Aberdeen is hosting a game on 12/16/22.

Robi Jo Colton provided a written report.  Our librarians will attend the Barnes & Noble’s book fair on December 15th from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and we will receive 20% of the profits for the day.  We will want this to be advertised in every way so they can earn money for our schools.  Focus Friday is January 20th.  The parents will sign up in the office by January 9th so the list can be given to the bus yard and guest providers.  The school will provide a project and STEM activities.  Parents may choose to sign their child(ren) up for dance and/or cookie decorating in January.  Mrs. Colton added that Focus Friday is going well and they are working on the busing arrangement for students.

David Vaughn provided a written report.  The school district has 139 students in special education right now, which is about 20% of total students.  Data day was successful in December.  We were able to discuss several students and plan interventions and testing for them.  Mr. Vaughn added that Spott Blossoms, LLC out of Pocatello is now providing occupational therapy services once a week with our students.
