Policy 663: Vocational Education

The general objective of vocational education is to develop in the student an understanding of our business world, the function it performs, and the economic responsibilities which must be assumed. Our lives at all times are concerned with some aspect of vocational education, either directly or indirectly, and a better understanding of this will make for better citizenship and a prolonged life for the United States.

Skills must be sufficiently developed to insure adequate vocational proficiency. Students must be taught that they are responsible for our future economic life. Vocational education offers one of the best opportunities for teaching these principles of responsibility. Social, civic, and moral responsibilities must be taught and vocational education can and must play a vital part in the development of our future citizens.

Integration of the objective and student response require upgrading and updating our department. Hopefully, we intend to involve more students in the vocational field in a practical and meaningful type application. Through this we hope to achieve and produce successful and qualified vocational trainees.

It is our hope that both boys and girls will take advantage of our vocational offerings and we pledge to do our best to avoid sex stereotyping and to provide equal opportunity and training to all.

Further we recognize the importance of these offerings to handicapped, whether linguistic, physical, emotional, cultural or mental, and pledge our efforts to the equal inclusion of those so afflicted on an equal basis with other students.
