Any such program will be conducted in compliance with all requirements in the Idaho Public Driver Education Content Standards and Benchmarks and the Operating Procedures for Idaho Public Driver Education Programs as approved by the State Board of Education.
Anyone residing in the district between the ages of fourteen and one-half (14 ½) through twenty-one (21) years of age, irrespective of whether they are enrolled in the district, are eligible to enroll in the district’s driver training program. Such driver training program, in the discretion of the Board, may be conducted after school hours, on Saturdays or during regular school vacation periods. The district may offer a joint driver training program with other districts. A fee shall be established in accordance with applicable Idaho law and assessed to cover those costs which are not reimbursed by state funds.
The purpose of the program is to introduce students to a course of study that leads to the eventual development of skills appropriate for a licensed driver in the State of Idaho. The Content Standards adopted by the State Board of Education and utilized by the district are designed to indicate the essential knowledge and skills based on Idaho traffic laws and principles of safety that a student should know and be able to perform for successful completion of an Idaho approved public driver education and training program.
