The Board of Trustees of School District No. 58, Bingham County, Idaho met in a work session followed by an executive session at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 at the Aberdeen School District office at 268 S 4th W Suite A, Aberdeen, Idaho.
CALL TO ORDER AND ESTABLISHMENT OF A QUORUM
Chairman Brian Rowlan opened the meeting at 2:30 p.m. Present were Sherrie Mauroner, James Patten, Amy Burusco and Aimee Elliott. A quorum was established.
PURPOSE OF MEETING AND BUSINESS CONDUCTED
- Approve High School State Track Overnight Trip Request in Boise/Middleton Idaho 5/14/26 to 5/16/26
- Ratify 2026-2027 Teacher Negotiations
- Executive Session – Reduction in Force
1. Approve High School State Track Overnight Trip Request in Boise/Middleton Idaho 5/14/26 to 5/16/26
A motion was made by Trustee Mauroner and seconded by Trustee Elliott to approve the high school state track overnight trip request in Boise/Middleton, Idaho on 5/14/26 to 5/16/26. The motion passed.
2. Ratify 2026-2027 Teacher Negotiations
The following items were proposed to be ratified by Aberdeen School District faculty:
- The district will pay the increase for the certified staff that can move on the salary schedule.
- Any teacher who cannot move in any direction on the Advanced Placement pay
scale will receive 2 additional personal days for the 2026-2027 school year.
- HB 516 limited legislative reopener will be placed in the negotiated handbook until further information is available from the legislators and the teachers association.
- Eligible district personnel will not have an increase in their health/vision, dental and life insurance premiums for the 2026-2027 school year.
- The teacher classroom supplies money will remain at $200 per certified teacher for FY 2027.
Trustee Rowlan asked for a motion to ratify teacher negotiations for the 2026-2027 school year.
A motion was made by Trustee Mauroner and seconded by Trustee Burusco to ratify the teacher negotiations for the 2026-2027 school year. All in favor – yes, none opposed. The motion passed.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
At 2:45 p.m., a motion was made by Trustee Elliott that the Board of Trustees of School District No. 58 recess from an open meeting into executive session pursuant to Section 74-206(1), Idaho Code, in order to discuss Section 74-206(1): Subsection (b) to consider the evaluation, dismissal, or discipling of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against, a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent, or public school student and that following the executive session the Board will reconvene in public session for the purpose of conducting further business or for adjournment of the meeting.
A roll call vote was held with the following results:
Brian Rowlan – Yes; Amy Burusco– Yes; Sherrie Mauroner – Yes; James Patten – Yes and Aimee Elliott – Yes. The motion passed.
Others present were Jane Ward, Dena Blaker and David Burke.
Details of the reduction in force policy and personnel were discussed. A motion was made by Trustee Patten and seconded by Trustee Burusco to return to open session and the motion passed. The Regular session reconvened at 7:02 p.m.
A motion was made by Trustee Mauroner and seconded by Trustee Burusco to approve three furlough days for certified instructional and pupil services staff only for the 2026-2027 school year. The furlough days will be August 21st, August 28th and September 4th. The motion passed.
A motion was made by Trustee Mauroner and seconded by Trustee Burusco to move forward with the reduction in force policy and to notify those involved in the reduction in force process at a mandatory staff meeting held in the high school auditorium on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 3:45 pm. The motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Trustee Maruoner and seconded by Trustee Burusco to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed and the meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
