SUPERINTENDENT AND ADMINISTRATORS’ REPORTS

Mr. Muir discussed his written report.  There will be a training in December for the strategic plan in Pocatello and the date is to be determined.  Mr. Muir will continue to follow up with Braintree for online learning opportunities.  With a bus driver resigning, some bus routes have been combined.  The mental health grant was finished and submitted for the Idaho School Based Family Support Hubs (SBFSHs) and $116,000 was requested.    The ISBA conference registration has been completed and the rooms have been booked for those attending.

Mr. Pincock provided a written report.  CSI and Trio visit the high school to help prepare students to enroll in post-secondary opportunities.  They also help students who are interested in obtaining their associates degree while in high school.  The state department of education has postponed the implementation of the new civics test for a year.  Currently our students take the citizenship test, and we will continue to use that test until the state implements the new test.  The high school has been given the opportunity by Bingham County to be in charge of one of the parking lots during the fair.  This will be an excellent opportunity for some of our organizations to earn some money.  Mr. Pincock added that Aaron Spence received a $5,000 Program Quality Initiative grant from the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education.

Ms. Taylor discussed her written report.  Midterms are September 10th just prior to the upcoming Harvest Break.  Parents can access grades and attendance through PowerSchool.  Geraldin and Ms. Taylor are continuing targeted outreach to update parent contact information for streamlined digital communication.  Volleyball is in the middle of their season now.  We are proud of the 7th and 8th grade teams’ victories against Grace and are grateful to our coaches Shayna Duffin and Jennifer Beck along with assistant coach Stacy Anthes.  Briana Rodriguez is helping coach the 7th grade team for her senior project.  Cross country is going well and the middle school has nine participants.  Ms. Taylor added that a special education mini-grant was received for Harvest Boot Camp.

Mrs. Colton was absent but provided a written report.  Administrator reports can be reviewed upon request at the district office.

Mr. Vaughn discussed his written report.  The Special Education program received a few mini-grants over the summer and the funds were used for paraprofessional training and purchasing supplies.  Mr. Vaughn will be attending a regional Special Education Directors meeting on 9/17/26 as well as an ESEA/IDEA Directors conference on 9/30 and 10/1 in Nampa.  A Child Find Day was held on 8/28 for students to be screened for testing for the Early Childhood Special Education program.  Several parents brought students to be screened and tested to determine if they qualify for services.  Mr. Vaughn added that high needs special education funds may be available from the state.  Mr. Vaughn is working on the application process and attending webinars to see if these funds can apply to the needs of our school district.
