BUSINESS ITEMS – DISCUSSION
First Review of 2026-2027 General Fund Budget
Business Manager David Burke presented general fund revenue, fund balance, transfer and expense budget line items with the board and answered questions.
Mr. Burke discussed how the district general fund balance is continuing to decrease primarily due to a decrease in student enrollment. The state provides public school districts general funds for staff through support units for salaries and benefits based on district student average daily attendance. With a continued decrease in enrollment and attendance, support units are decreasing, which in turn is a decrease in general funds for certified and classified staff. Federal funds that the school district receive helps to pay for some salaries and benefits of certified and classified staff. We are over staffed district-wide by approximately twelve full time equivalency (FTE) certified staff with all funding sources.
For review only, no motion was necessary.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Trustee Burusco and seconded by Trustee Mauroner to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed and the meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
